Further information

The horse breed called Paint Horse is represented by the 'American Paint Horse Association'(APHA) in Texas. However, it is basically not an autonomous breed, but rather spotted Quarter Horses. The reason for this is that the Paint Horse has the same pedigree and origin as the American Quarter ... More about the horse breed Paint Horse

Portland is a 6 year old 3/4 Paint 1/4 Percheron standing a stout and sturdy 15.1 hands high. This horse checks all of the boxes and then some. He looks flawless under any tack, with any rider, and always leaves his person with a smile. Portland is a true jack of all trades, an honest gentleman, and packed full of talent! He packs around the kids at lessons every week, jumps ANYTHING you put in front of him, and safely rides out on the trails in any terrain. I wish we could clone this horse a hundred times, not only is he useful and trustworthy, but he is just fantastic at everything he does. It doesn't matter the level of rider who climbs on him, he always looks like a million bucks going around the ring. Portland is easy, sensible, well rounded, and reliable. Take him anywhere and do anything, and always enjoy the ride!
In the ring, Portland is well educated and soft. He rides like a dream both English and western, and is like riding a couch bareback! Portland knows his lateral work, has a nice neck rein, great stops, and picks up both leads. His transitions are impeccable, he is balanced, and has great rhythm. Portland is soft in the bridle and is happy going in a frame or on the buckle. He does lessons with local kids weekly, he was so popular that we had to make a rotating schedule for him! Over fences, this is one of the easiest and most honest horses around. He makes up for the riders lack of confidence, and fills in the blanks if the rider can't find a distance. He is a BLAST on the cross country field, I'd love to see this horse go be an eventer, but he'd be just as happy as a family horse, in the dressage ring, enjoying life as a trail horse, or doing all of it!
On the trails and off property, Portland is dreamy. He steps off the trailer and does his job like he's been there his whole life. We have taken him to local events, indoors, hunter paces, and on lots of trail rides. He crosses all of the obstacles, swims, jumps all the things, and is sure footed on all terrain. He is easy to load, a good boy on the trailer, and a gentleman out on the ride!
In the barn, Portland is polite and gentle. He is a good boy for all the usual barn tasks, and loves the kids. He stands to be groomed, bathed, tacked, and loved on. Portland is happy living outside in a mixed herd, and is a good boy with no vices when stalled. Portland is an easy keeper, barefoot, and requires no maintenance or special care.
