Bart absolutely glistens a rich blue/black color in the sunshine. HIs huge mane and tail make him look like a painting! He stands 15.3 hands. Bart has been in my barn for the last two years. At first, Bart was used in several lessons each week. He was ridden western quite a bit, but was also used as a hunt seat horse. Bart became very comfortable with low jumps and was very popular with his riders due to his exceptional, smooth gaits. He has proven himself to be athletic and versatile, wearing more than one hat with style! His primary rider at my barn is a handy youth girl who has done everything with him from jumping, riding along the Platte River, and trail obstacle practices and competitions, to hauling and competing at AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse Shows. He has been extremely competitive in the Ranch Riding. His lead changes are flawless, he has good transitions, and his way of going is just easy on the eye for any judge. Bart has also done well in Ranch Trail and is a fun horse in Boxing and Herdwork. Bart and his dedicated youth rider competed successfully in local and bigger, regional shows. His youth rider has decided to move toward a younger project horse. Bart has been a beautiful horse to have in our program. He does need to be longed if he has had time off. He is well broke and very responsive, but he is best when he has gotten to play and run on the longe line--so he is ready to pay attention and go to work for his rider. Bart is an exceptional athlete, we feel he would be best suited to a confident intermediate or advanced rider. He would also be a fantastic horse for a ranch cowboy that needs to cover a lot of ground or handle a lot of cattle. Bart has been introduced to the barrel pattern a little bit. He has never been run hard on the pattern -- only loped through to qualify his rider for high point awards at horse shows. We believe speed events would be extremely easy for him! Bart is up to date on vaccinations and worming. He also has a current coggins and is ready to go. He has been great to ride barefoot, but right now he has 1" sliders on the back and is barefoot on the front. He is always a big stopper, so we have kept him in sliders to accomodate his butt-in-the-ground style of stopping. He has good, hard, dark hooves. He has always been completely sound and never needed any injections or other maintenance. Bart is a dynamic individual that would make a jam-up barrel horse, or a very capable, go-to mount for a working ranch cowboy. If you're partial to a gorgeous, athletic gelding, take a look at Bart! His good looks will appeal to all, but due to his athleticism and freshness with time off, we recommend him to only advanced riders.
