Mo is a member of our A-string on the ranch. He is a seasoned ranch gelding and has seen every real life scenario out there from the ranch to the stockyards. He’d make a switchender in the roping pen also, but our focus has not been in the pen during the fall/winter months. We have been covered up with cow work.
Mo gets his name affectionately from a joke we made to our daughter one day when her daddy told her he wanted to use him that day because he was a much “mo-betta” ranch horse than the other horse in the catch pen that day The name stuck! He’s been Mo-betta “Mo” ever since.
This gelding is as reliable of a ranch partner as you can ask for. Catch him on a cold morning and head to work. He has never offered to buck or even be tight. He’s the same day in and day out with a good work ethic and a lot of cow to him. He’s seen the wide open spaces just as well as the tight spaces of the stockyards and knows how to handle all of it. We’ve roped and doctored cattle on him, loaded cattle, loaded trucks, sorted thousands of pairs on him and covered lots of outside miles. Nothing but real life has seasoned this great gelding and made him a reliable partner. He is broke in the bridle and absolutely handy. He works off your legs to open and close gates and is soft and enjoyable to ride. We’ve crossed deep water, been tangled up in vines up to the knee picking through thick backwoods, trusted him to scale steep inclines, asked him for his life and trusted him with ours. He’s a good horse.
He is an easy keeper and is shod. His diet is free choice alfalfa and he comes up easily from the big pasture to the catch pen with feed. In the saddle Mo has no quirks. He is solid as they come. Just like your average ranch horse he can be somewhat watchy on the ground, but he doesn’t mean anything by it and if you’ll just go about your business and not sneak around he will quit. He does not kick, bite etc. he has a sweet and curious demeanor.
Mo a gelding we have been using on the ranch and have put in every scenario possible. We like this horse, we enjoy using him, we know exactly what he is and every in and out about him. Please do not hesitate with questions. We would love to talk him over with you and are happy to help you determine if he is a good fit for what you’re looking for.
He is 100% sound and has never had any health or soundness issues. He is built to last and will outride and has outrode many-a-good registered horses. If you’re in need of a good using horse you certainly won’t regret him. He will hold his own and you’ll be proud to ride him.
