Manhattan is a 5 year old Quarter Horse gelding standing a stout and sturdy 14.2 hands high. Manny is good broke, versatile, sensible, and pretty as a picture. He has experience working in the sale barn pushing cows, tons of trail mileage, doing 4h and mounted games with the kids, and goes English too! Take him to clean up at a dressage show, or jump him around like a hunter. For the past 6 months, Manny was loaned out to a friend of ours for his 10 year old to use for 4h, trail riding, and local showing. Manny is talented and easygoing for ANY job. There aren’t many horses that can truly do any discipline, but Manhattan is one who will step into any ring and get the job done well.
In the ring, Manhattan is broke both English and western. He has a one hand neck rein, a big stop, and is soft in the bridle. He responds well to leg and seat cues, and is happy going in a frame or riding on a loose rein. You can ride him western, dressage, or like a hunter. He pops around a course in the ring, and will jump literally anything you put in front of him, from any distance. He’s a natural when it comes to jumping and we think he could really excel in that direction! Manny has been ridden by the kids, gives pony rides to the babies, and will ride around double with the kids when they want to go for a spin. He is comfortable, simple, and a joy to ride.
On the trails and off property, Manhattan is a dream. He is always a reliable partner on the trails, and is not phased by a thing. He absolutely loves the water and will be the first one to go for a swim. He is safe riding along busy roads, with ATVs, alone, or in large groups. We have used him to work our hunting dogs, so a transition to foxhunting would be an easy one. Manhattan hops into the trailer, stands tied, and is easy to mount. He’s used to going off property to hunter pace, do fun local shows, and school new places. He doesn’t need any prep and goes right to work.
In the barn, Manhattan is quiet and gentle. He is used to the kids and their friends grooming and loving on him. He really enjoys having a relationship with his people. Once he knows you he’ll be whinnying when he sees you come into the barn, and following you around in the field. Manny is well behaved in turnout and gets along well with others. Manny lives out most of the time, but is well behaved with no bad habits when stalled. He has no quirks or vices and is an easy keeper that requires no maintenance. Manny does have a scar on his left hind that he has had since he was a yearling. We had the vet do a full exam and radiographs, and it does not affect him in any way. Please reach out and we are happy to share the exam with you!
