Introducing Shady D Bart Baron, “Bart” -our 2020 AQHA Gray Gelding. This horse will get you noticed, if not for his gorgeous gray color and kind eyes, then for his exceptional ability and versatility for a gelding this size and age. At just over 15.2, Bart is athletic and quicker when needed and can easily relax into a smooth gate for a leisurely ride. He is suitable for any level rider- weekend trail rider to working cowboy. He doesn’t need to be ridden every day and stays broke with time off. His maturity and experience overshadows the lack of years on the calendar.
We purchased Bart off the farm from the breeder as a yearling and have handled, trained, used and loved him since. He has a wonderful mind and willingness to please. He is HPI eligible (the highest paying ranch horse competition in the country).
He’s been ridden by our whole family, plus friends and visitors to the ranch. Bart will one-hand neck rein, catch leads, and is responsive. We’ve used him for all aspects of ranch work from sorting pairs, moving cows, roping and doctoring calves to checking fences and riding the trails.
Bart is our go-to gelding. Not just at home- We’ve hauled him to the Nebraska Sandhills to use during branding season 2 years in a row. He hauls well and gets along with other horses. He’s won money at area ranch rodeos and team-pennings. Bart has been making a great head horse, bringing in a few checks already- calm in the box with plenty of speed, strength and heart- if you want to continue that route.
He’s gentle and easy to handle. He’s good for the farrier and easy to clip and groom. Bart is the sweet and respectful-but not spoiled- kind that everyone loves.
He has the looks, ability and temperament to be your next forever horse. 100% sound.
Start the New Year off right by adding this amazing gelding to your pasture.
