A kind eye, a big heart, a docile personality, a sound mind, and stunning looks make Duke a sure win for anyone wanting to add an impeccable gelding to their family. Duke is a 3 yr old Brabant/Quarter Horse cross standing 16hands. A true family horse! Duke rides Western, English, Bareback, & drives. He has proven very tolerant of inexperienced rider cues. Regularly enjoyed by beginners & children!
On the trail, he is calm & relaxed. Naturally a more whoa than go style. Duke rides among the group, but is not herd bound. He will ride out alone or ride away from others, no issues. He crosses water, limbs, logs, goes up & down hills, over bridges, navigates rough terrain with ease. Duke is sure footed, takes care of his rider, and will confidently go wherever he is pointed.
Duke is traffic safe. Frequently driven & ridden on the road, even down the median of the four lane highway!
If wagon rides are your thing, Duke is your guy! Frequently lady driven. He stands to harness & hook. He is unfazed by passing traffic, barking dogs, the sound of trains, & honking horns. He will go whatever speed you ask on a loose line. His driving experience makes him suitable for wagon trails, carriage rides, weddings, and leisurely Sunday strolls.
Duke is safe! He has zero spook, zero bad habits, is very confident, and willing to do whatever is asked of him. We often use Duke to tote our 18 month old son along on trails. Duke doesn’t mind a bit to carry the buddy seat to pack the kiddos along. Duke has been exposed and is comfortable/safe around fourwheelers, dirt bikes, tractors, kids, strollers, flags, traffic, wildlife, other pets, & livestock. Duke has been hauled all over. He is the same horse in town as he is at home. No matter the setting, this guy is unbothered.
Duke stands tied/crossed tied all day! He behaves like the perfect gentleman for bathing, grooming, saddling, & for the farrier. He loads and unloads in a regular slant trailer with rear tack with zero issues. Duke is super easy to keep. He turns out in a mixed herd, no issues. He can also be stalled, always near & tidy. He is super easy to catch, follows me to the barn every morning. Duke is a true pleasure to have around!
